Pizza at Number Twenty9, Burnham Market
Number Twenty9 is located in the centre of Burnham Market, I have been there a number of times for a glass of wine here, or a meal there, and always found it a truly lovely experience. There is a relaxed sofa area in the bar, a warming open fire in the winter months, and a fantastic garden out the back for the summer months, G&T anyone? Perhaps more importantly to many, they are so dog friendly that they even have a special menu for your furry friend!
Last year my hen party kicked off with an evening here, we dined on pizza and prosecco, lounged on sofa's and had a truly memorable evening. The pizzas, are to die for! They are cooked in a wood fired oven, and the toppings so delicious - the seafood pizza was a popular choice that evening and came laden with the most succulent prawns dressed with rocket. I opted for the Cajun chicken pizza topped with chunks of juicy chicken, pepperoni and peppers, this was definitely another favourite amongst the gang. The wood fired oven ensured the most crisp base and that delicious smoky taste I oh so love.
Now, they offer far more than pizza here, a wonderfully varied menu for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, but I want to focus on the pizza's specifically. This is because I have discovered that as of 24th April (this Friday), they will be firing up their outdoor oven EVERY Friday evening and offering a click and collect service (please note that you need to pre-order the day before).
What an amazing date night option during lock down? Just add a crisp glass of something, a little back ground music, and you could almost be out in a restaurant (can you tell that I am missing dining out?!)
Alongside the restaurant and bar, there is a small empire coming together - upstairs there are 6 boutique bedrooms. I haven't yet had the opportunity to stay, but I have heard wonderful things about them. They have also recently launched a bakery just a few doors down, Number Thirty3. They have currently adapted this new venture to supply fresh produce and essentials during the lock down period, and are also providing home deliveries to those living in the Burnham villages.
I think a massive well done is owed to the team here who have adapted their business to ensure that those in need have access to wonderfully fresh produce during this time of uncertainty. I look forward to making another visit as soon as things are a little more back to normal.
I say we should clap for all key workers and those striving to ensure that we have essentials delivered to our door - I will be doing this tomorrow evening alongside clapping for our carers and thinking about the pizza I will be eating the following evening - perhaps you will join me from afar?
