Top 10 Beauty Products - ALEX

First of all, let me say that it was extremely hard to get this down to just 10 products!

I have been going through my dressing table and bathroom all week, adding to, and omitting from this list. I had so many makeup items that I wanted to include but also wanted to ensure that I balanced this with some of my top skincare products. I am a firm believer in looking after my skin before worrying about my makeup - you have to have a good canvas!

Actually, on that note, this is actually a list of 11 products, I couldn't leave the final one out!

So here is what I really cannot live without;

Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar - £35.00 - this is such an incredible cleanser. If I have heavy eye makeup on, I will use an eye makeup remover beforehand, but for the rest of the face its perfect. You can use the edges of the bar to massage your face and get a really deep cleanse. My skin is always so glowing after I use it and feels extremely fresh. Plus, I love the box it comes in!

Rodial Vit C Glow Tonic - £25.00 - I think people often waste tonic and soak their face pad with it, this one has a handy little pump on top to stop this from happening and it lasts me FOREVER. It’s super invigorating, tightens pores and it lifts dead skin cells away leaving you with a much more youthful complexion. I love Rodial and use a lot of their products, some can be quite pricey (I am a big fan of the snake serum and dragons blood) but this one is a good price point and good value for money.

Bioeffect EGF Serum - £50.00 - a little goes a long way with this hence I don’t mind its price tag so much. It’s not oily and sits on the skin really well.  I don’t use serums in the morning generally, but I love to pop them on at night before my overnight moisturiser. This one really regenerates your skin overnight and helps keep wrinkles away and restores your skin.

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturiser - £55.00 - I really like to use in the morning, its very light and once it has soaked in it doesn’t leave residue or effect my makeup. I suffer with redness sometimes, my skin isn’t sensitive, but I don’t want to use anything in the morning that is too thick and highlight my redness. This product helps me glow!

Dr Jart + Cicapair Tiger Grass Colour Correcting Treatment - £36.00 – this product is great on its own topped with some finishing powder for a light day look, or you can put foundation over the top on the days where you feel a little more coverage is needed. It really helps with colour correction - as I said above I suffer with redness sometimes on my cheeks and this is amazing for that. Don’t be scared, it initially goes on green (but green combats red), and once massaged into your skin alters to match your skin tone.  It is of a thick consistency, so a tiny bit goes a long way. It also has SPF30 which is so important, especially as we come into the summer months.

Illamaswua Beyond Veil Primer - £34.00 – like Emma mentioned in her recommendations last week, I haven’t really been wearing  foundation during lockdown, but a little primer for a face call or trip to the shops has taken away that ‘naked’ feeling.  This is the perfect primer to apply before makeup, giving you a soft glow underneath and helps with elasticity and brightness. Its great before a night out - and makes you look a million dollars!

Charlotte Tilbury Airbush Flawless Finish Powder - £35.00 - this is my favourite ever powder! It gives a wonderful soft finish, blends makeup together and lasts all day. I use a lot of Charlotte Tilbury, and this is one I use every time I do my makeup. There is a reason they sold one of these every minute throughout 2019! That’s quite a statement!

Avant Moisture Surge Overnight Treatment - £85.00 - this is probably my priciest one – but really worth the treat. They do offer smaller sizes on some websites if you want to try out before committing. This is a really thick moisturising treatment that you put on before you go to bed. I don’t use it every night, I use it when I’ve been a little slack with my skin care routine, or I’ve been in the sun a lot, or just generally my skin needs a boost. This is that boost! My skin feels so good in the morning, fully hydrated and so soft.

Generation Clay brightening Purple clay face mask - £20.25 - I try to do a face mask once a week, and this is one I am loving at the moment - its sorts out my dark circles, and gives me a deep cleanse.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk (original) Lipstick - £25.00 - this is my all-time favourite lip shade; it goes with everything! Charlotte’s lipsticks are so moisturising and stay put! This is a classic nude colour with a matte finish.

...and the bonus 11th product is…

Prai Ageless Throat & Decolletage Creme - £24.99 -  it blends in seamlessly and helps prevent skin stretching. We all know that the key age identifiers are our hands and neck, so I am a little obsessed with looking after these areas and trying delay the process!

Next week we will hear from Becky on her favourite products, but in the meantime if you have any questions about any of the above, or would like to suggest some of your favourite beauty products to us we would love to hear from you.
