Top 10 Beauty Products - Becky

When Alex and Emma were discussing how hard it was to narrow their favourite products down to just 10, I was quietly sitting there thinking, 'do I even own 10?'

Everyone who knows me personally, knows that I am a bit of a tomboy at heart. Makeup is not an area I show huge interest in, or want to invest in due to the fact I really don't wear a great deal. If I don't have to wear it, I won't. I might on a special occasion apply some eyeliner and a brightly coloured lipstick, but that's about it.  Contouring, highlighting and all the other things beyond the basics are just not something I do.

However, I do enjoy a little pamper session every so often, and I always ensure that I set aside a few minutes each morning and evening to apply a few products and look after my skin. I am always buying and trying new things, I find my skin type changes quite dramatically throughout the year.

I am a natural born worrier and have a habit of looking at the worst case scenario, so a worldwide pandemic has exacerbated my anxiety levels beyond all usual levels. It has affected my sleep patterns and in turn my skin - I have definitely not been getting my beauty sleep and a few additional products have been required to help cover up those dark circles!

So here is what I am using at the moment;

St Tropez Gradual Tan Body Lotion - £14.50  -  this gives me a sun kissed glow opposed to a full on tan. I have a naturally pale complexion and have come to terms with the fact that I can sit in the sun all summer and I will be as pale as I was at the start. I go bright red for a few hours, and then pale again. This lotion is lightweight and super easy to apply.  It is infused with Vitamin E and leaves my skin moisturised and smooth. I use the light/medium, but you can also get a darker version.

St Tropez Gradual Tan Classic Face Lotion - £14.50 to ensure that my face and neck match the rest of my body I use this.  Again like the body lotion, it is lightweight, easy to apply and ensures that I have a sun kissed glow.

Dermalogica Cleansing Gel - £33.00 -  I use this product every day, morning and night. It is so refreshing and leaves my skin feeling clean and smooth. I was given a Dermalogica set for Christmas by parents one year and ever since have been hooked. It is a pricey cleanser, but as I said, I don't spend a great deal of money in this area of my life, so I think I can justify the odd extravagance!

Dermologica Daily Microfoliant - £51.00 - this is the second of my absolute staple/always have products. It perks me up ready for the day ahead. It is a rice based powder which activates with water creating a lightly grainy soap. When massaged into your skin, it gently washes away dead skin cells and general grime leaving you with a brighter complexion. You do not need to use a lot of this product, a little amount really goes a long way and a bottle will last me around three months.

Body Shop Drops of Youth Concentrate - £26.00 -  I treated myself to this in the run up to Christmas and it has been an amazing find! I pop two drops of this on twice a day before I moisturise. The cooling gel-like serum leaves my skin feeling fresher and I swear looking a little younger - I felt extremely flattered buying a lottery ticket recently and being asked for my ID!

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Refining Moisture Cream Complex - £30.00 -   I received this as Christmas present and my goodness what a difference it has made. I suffer from particularly dry skin on my face and for years I have been chopping and changing brands and products to try and find the right one for me.  I think I have finally found it! It is super moisturising but not greasy, it sinks straight into my skin and leaves me feeling moisturised all day.

Elemis Absolute Eye Serum - £36.00 - I have discovered this during lockdown, after weeks of very little sleep my eyes were starting to look very black! It has been my saviour! Being on furlough (and therefore reduced income), it was a little more than I wanted to spend. However, I had been told by a number of friends that it is a bit of a miracle product, so I bit the bullet and ordered some, and I must say it is worth every penny! I can't imagine not using it now.  Its key ingredients are lavender, rosewood, comfrey and chamomile. It soothes your skin when applied which reduces puffiness and moisturises that delicate skin around your eyes.

Bobbi Brown Face and Cheek Corrector - £19.50 - I started wearing this around the time I had my son Alfy to counteract the sleepless nights. Turns out he was a super easy baby, he barely cried and just wanted hugs all the time, he slept through the night from around 6 months. I didn't realise how easy he was until his sister Nellie came along which is when this product became more of a necessity! Five years on and I am still waiting for her to sleep straight through, her energy levels are always through the roof, it is like having a Labrador. I wear her out with a big walk or some form of exercise, and a 30 minute nap later she is ready to go for hours.....and hours.  I have to admire her energy, I am sure she will hit her teens and I will spend my mornings begging her to get out of bed!

Bobbi Brown Under Eye Perfector - £19.50 - I have used a number of under eye concealers over the years, this one seems to work best for me.  It has a creamy texture that turns to a silky powder feel once applied. It covers even the blackest of eyes.

Lancôme Hypnose Volumising Mascara - £25.50 - this is the one I am currently using, but I think it's safe to say I have bought every kind of Lancôme mascara there is. I very rarely stray from this brand for mascara.  It is enriched with Vitamin B5 which leaves my lashes soft and supple, it lengthens my lashes and doesn't clag.
