This February half term, we’re all about encouraging you and your families to get out and have an adventure! Turn off those tablets, switch off the TV, it’s time to embrace the outdoors and let the adventures begin. 

Here in Norfolk, we are surrounded by an abundance of nature and endless activities to keep all of the family happy. Here are our Top picks for attractions to visit this February half term.  

 

Holkham Hall 

Holkham Hall is a truly spectacular place where a stunning coastal landscape meets one of England’s great agricultural estates. Each year Holkham hosts a number of events during the school holidays, This years theme is Love Birds.  

Nature is in love at Holkham this half term, as they celebrate Norfolk’s feathered friends and some of the other creatures that can be found throughout Holkham Park. Holkham’s location is the idyllic place for that little bit of peace and quiet, whether that be bird spotting or spending some quality time together as a family. Join them for a whole host of events throughout the week and find out what’s love got to do with it… 

 

‘Love is in the Air’ Trail

Explore Holkham Park, following the trail, to learn how love blossoms between creatures found in Holkham Park.

Seek out the hidden ‘love shack’ down by the lake, for the perfect Instagram moment.

Holkham Stories and Happily Ever Afters Trail

Holkham’s fascinating exhibition will be open, with a new fun trail. Holkham has been host to many love stories through the ages, follow the trail to learn more about influential couples from Holkham’s history.  
£5.50 per adult, £2.50 per child. 
 
Nature Trail 
Daily 10am-4pm 
Learn more about the animals, plants and fungi that can be found on the circular walk around Holkham Lake.

Build a Bird Box Workshop 
Monday 14th to Friday 18th February, 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm & 2.30pm 
Join Holkham’s wildlife expert to learn about the importance of promoting birds in your garden, build your own bird box and decorate at home.

Avian Art Workshop 
Monday 14th to Friday 18th February, 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm & 2.30pm 
Join local artist, Mary Blue, in a fun, creative session which uses different techniques and materials to create a bird themed masterpiece.

BeWILDerwood

The Curious Treehouse Adventure 

For a day out in Norfolk, not far from Norwich, visit the huge, award-winning forest of family fun and outdoor adventure. This Curious Treehouse Adventure Park, BeWILDerwood is based on the magical series of children’s books written by local author and creator of BeWILDerwood, Tom Blofeld. The Park hosts a number of thrilling activities from Treehouses, Wobbly Wires, Slippery Slopes, Crocklebogs, Twiggles and Boggles, storytelling, boat rides and marsh walks. 

 

BeWILDerwood is the perfect location for families that are looking to have a wonderful and enchanting family day out. The wild and imaginative adventure park is the home to some intriguing characters. Look out for Swampy, Thornyclod, Vera the Hippopotamuddle, Snagglefang and the BeWILDerbats, the hard to spot Parasquawk and many more. These characters are all ready to make your day one to remember. 

This day fun-packed day will be full of adventure and will have the adults as excited as the kids as the parents are encouraged to play alongside their children, which makes for a fabulous and brilliantly exciting day out for the whole family. This magical day will have you cruising along on a lazy boat ride across The Scaaaaary Lake, crossing jungle bridges, visiting tree-houses, whizzing down The Wobbly Wires, getting befuddled in the marvellous Muddle Maze, building dens with bracken and sticks and dressing up and joining in with the enchanting daily storytelling.  

Prices are based on height as there are a few bits and bobs in the park that require longer arms and legs! 

 

Wroxham Barns

Welcome to Wroxham Barns, Norfolk’s award-winning visitor attraction set in the stunning countryside close to the Norfolk Broads.  

Open daily from 10 am – 5 pm. There’s so much to see and do.  

The Junior Farm and The Fun Park offers a super value pay once play all day, day out, including; Jumping Pillows, Sand Play, Water Wars, Train, Mini Golf, Go Karts, Jumping Frogs, Pirate Ship, Truck Ride PLUS all the fun of Junior farm including; Guinea Pig village, Goats, Sheep, Alpacas, Chickens, Ponies, Pigs, Runner Ducks, Turkeys & Donkeys plus the new treetop viewing walkway!  

Why not join In and visit their brand new maternity barn for the Live Half Term Lambing event too, you will meet the pregnant sheep and will have a strong chance of seeing a live birth! Meet the cute Lambs too, and a member of the team will be on hand to explain all about Lambing. 

Wroxham Barns is the perfect location for all of the family, especially those who are in need of some retail therapy too. Visit the abundance of talented craftspeople and chat with them while they work, or browse the shops which offer everything from unique gifts and stylish clothes to fun toys and delicious foods. 

 

ROARR! Dinosaur Park

ROARR! includes over 25 dinosaur themed attractions across 85 acres, complete with play areas and eateries, animal farm and deer park, the fun never stops, whatever the weather. ROARR! Provides a day full of endless fun, so why not take to the high ropes, test your wits in the maze, dig for dino bones or meet Dippy and his young dino friends in the Dippy Theatre for show packed full of adventure, singing and dancing – this huge value day out is one not to be missed.  

Whether you’re swinging on the Predator High Ropes, meeting the (non-Jurassic) animals in the Secret Garden or dashing about in Norfolk’s biggest indoor play area Dinomite, it’s an out-of-this-world adventure for intrepid explorers, dino-hunters, and adventure-seekers of all sizes. 

 

Park Farm Snettisham

Snettisham Park Farm, first opened to the public in 1986, and is still a working Norfolk farm growing Wheat for animal feed, Malting Barley, Sugar Beet and Grass. The park is grazed by a 400 ewe flock, a beautiful herd of red deer and a number of horses and ponies from their stables 

The 329 acre working Farm can involve many exciting adventures from seeing lambs being born, to a spectacular 45 minute deer safari where you will meet the magnificent red deer herd. A favourite area amongst most would be visiting the adorable farm yard animals, you can also collect fresh farm eggs as well a grooming experience with one of their majestic ponies. Whilst you are there why not enjoy a walk on one of three wonderful trails. 

The ride around the Deer Safari on a tractor pulled covered trailer or indulge in a Safari Land Rover ride is a magical experience not to be missed. During the 45 minute round trip, you will meet and be able to feed the spectacular herd of red deer. You can be sure to get an amazing close encounter with the Deer, all of which are more than happy to feed from your hands.
